ABOUT GOPAL
“Isai Mottugal” a light music orchestra of 25 budding children in the age group of 6 to 15 came to existence in the year 2004 during the month of may by the great efforts of Mr.M.Gopal known as “Drum Gopal” who has more than 25 years of musical experience in drums . He has performed many musical programs under various eminent musicians, presently performing with A.R Rahman in his 'World Tour Light Concert'.
Today he is one of the most sought after drummers for most of the leading music groups in Chennai like A.V. Ramanan, Mano, Janaki, Malaysia Vasudevan etc., to name a few. He just made an all india and US tour with none other than Shri. A. R. Rahman. He is also an active performer with Indian Jaaz fusion bands like Valayapatti S. Malarvannan and Lalitha Nadhini, the violin duo. He has also programmed rhythms for several films under the music direction of etc.
After all these years of experience, Gopal now wants to share his knowledge of rhythms with all his students and is sincerely making an effort to inspire children of all age groups to inculate an interest in rhythms not only by teaching them but also by encouraging them to do many stage performances & drumming being his passion Mr. Gopal in a drive to teach it to young children, founded “Drumalayam” on 26.10.2001.
“Isai Mottugal” was then founded to spread the talents of the younger generation.
A group of 13 vocalists and 12 instrumentalists form the “Children Orchestra” “Isai Mottugal”. This is the first children program in India, where in children are well trained and they have a professional way of singing and playing the instruments.
They have given more than 225 stage performances both within and outside the state to its credit, the highlight being without any disruption to their studies!
